Background of the Study
Lokoja, the capital city of Kogi State, serves as a pivotal economic and administrative center in the region. Efficient management of resources within local governments is crucial for fostering economic development and providing public services. Cost accounting, by enabling the accurate tracking and allocation of costs, plays a significant role in enhancing resource efficiency. Through practices such as cost allocation, variance analysis, and budgeting techniques, local governments can optimize the use of available funds, ensuring that resources are directed towards areas that yield the most significant benefits.
